WHAT OCCURED?

According to The Times, the Toffees have refused to change the conditions of the £10 million deal negotiated with Tottenham upon Dele’s transfer in January 2022. Dele arrived at Goodison Park on a free transfer, but the agreement included a condition requiring the Merseyside club to pay the fee if and when the midfielder made 20 appearances for his new team.

The English midfielder made 13 appearances for his new team during the 2021-22 season before being loaned out to Besiktas. He returned to his parent club in April 2023, but has yet to appear in a match this season due to a thigh injury that necessitated surgery. Spurs recently made an offer to amend the terms of the contract by lowering the fee to £8 million in exchange for cutting the number of minimum appearances from 20, which Everton rejected.

WHAT DID YOU KNOW?

The 27-year-old last appeared in a competitive match for Besiktas against Antalyaspor on February 26. His loan stay in Turkey turned out to be a misery, with only three goals in 17 appearances.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT FOR DELE ALLI?

Dele hopes that Everton and his former club may reach an acceptable agreement, allowing him to resume his career. His Everton contract expires at the end of the 2023-24 season.
