Messi did not train, Argentinian staff not worried
Lionel Messi did not participate in the collective training of the Argentine selection on Thursday. Three days before the World Cup final, the number 10 of the Albiceleste suffers from hamstring discomfort which does not, however, call into question his presence on the lawn on Sunday, according to the daily Clarin. The Argentinian staff wants to be reassuring.
Will he be at 100% of his physical means for what could well be the most important match of his immense career? The question may arise for Lionel Messi, whose absence from Albiceleste training was noticed on Thursday. Three days before the World Cup final (Sunday at 4 p.m.), Lionel Scaloni and his technical staff are not panicking, however: the “Pulga” will hold its place in the World Cup final, reports the Argentine daily Clarin.
Messi thus suffers from a small discomfort in the hamstring muscle of the left thigh. The information is not so surprising since during the semi-final largely won against Croatia (3-0), the Argentine genius had touched this area of his body several times at the start of the match, apparently preoccupied. But the possible injury does not seem serious, his fabulous tumble after which he offered the third goal to Julian Alvarez demonstrated it in the second half.
A small alert of this type should therefore not deter Messi from trying to guide his people to the world title. Also note that Angel Di Maria trained without restraint and therefore applies for a starting place on Sunday, even if the lack of rhythm linked to his return from injury could encourage Scaloni to leave him on the bench.
